Ground floor of House La Punta by Central de Arquitectura

House La Punta is designed to make you wonder. Why and how it's done? Architects from Central de Arquitectura designed this interesting modern house in Mexico City.

This "L" shaped house is one of those homes where architects and engineers had their day. Basement is used as a parking garage for 6 cars with small bathroom and wine cellar. Ground floor consists modern living room with dining room and the kitchen. Interesting design detail is that this floor almost has no walls. The only thing separating interiors of this modern house from the outer space is very thin glass wall. How is that possible?

Basement floor and first floor are connected with 4 simple thin black columns supporting the first floor. They are so thin compared to massive concrete above that it looks like the first floor flies above a thin glass wall. Very interesting and smart move. Of course, concrete above is lightweight concrete, forming the first floor which consists bedrooms and bathrooms.
